Equatorial Guinea Confirms Launch of Mining, Oil and Gas Licensing Rounds

Equatorial Guinea Minister of Mines and Hydrocarbons Gabriel Obiang Lima on Thursday further confirmed that the country will launch the EGRonda 2019 Mining Licensing Rounds and Oil and Gas Licensing in April.
Speaking to CNBC Africa, the Minster said: “In April at the Year of Energy 2019 conference, we will officially launch our licensing rounds for the first time. This will include producing and developing blocks. The licensing round is special because we will also launch our first mineral license.”
Equatorial Guinea is offering up to 13 offshore blocks as part of the oil and gas licensing round.
The Minister further noted that 2019 is the year of energy for Equatorial Guinea, adding that energy related conferences will take place in the country throughout the year.
Equatorial Guinea will kick off the Year of Energy 2019 with the the APPO Cape VII Congress and Exhibition from 2-5 April in Malabo, which will be followed by the 2019 meeting of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum, featuring ministers and heads of state from all GECF nations on 26-29 November.
The Year of Energy will also present the 5th Gas Summit, which will feature the sessions and presentations from public and private sector gas leaders. Register and learn more about these events here.
